Teachers

Once upon a time…

… a young girl named Gretchen Greene took her big dreams to the Big Apple and became a Radio City Music Hall Rockette. When she returned home to Savannah, she decided to share her love of dance with as many students as she could. 40 Years and a thousand students later, the Gretchen Greene School of Dance is alive and kicking. She is now joined by her two (grown) children, Trina and Travis.

All of our teachers are either certified to teach by Dance Masters of America or hold a college degree in the Arts.
  • Gretchen G. Dodd - Owner and Founder – Certified Dance Master since 1969
  • Trina Dodd- Company Director – Certified Dance Master since 1998
  • Travis Dodd - Recreational Director - Certified Dance Master since 2006
  • Carla Wellmaker – Preschool & Elementary – Certified Dance Master since 2006
  • Cheri Hester – Preschool & Kindergarten - College Degree in Theatre
  • Karen Burns – Ballet – College Degree in Dance

“It is the supreme art of the teacher to awaken joy in creative expression and knowledge.”

“Dancing at Gretchen's is one of the fondest memories from my younger years. I learned self confidence through the dance classes and was challenged on a daily basis to set goals and achieve them. I was also given the opportunity to grow and mature as a young woman that I do not know I would've had, had I not danced at Gretchen's growing up!!! I only hope that I can find a studio with teachers as loving and caring as everyone at Gretchen's was when I have children and they begin to dance!!!!”
